Attention Y-Kids Families
Y-Kids parents/guardians, with the Governors announcement of phase 1 to start reopening the state, we are working on a plan to reopen our Y-Kids sites on May 11th. Since the recommendation is a phased approach in hopes of preventing further break outs, Y-Kids will also be opening with limitations. As things progress and restrictions loosen across the state, we will make adjustments to Y-Kids in order to serve as many families as we can while still providing safe childcare within the changing regulations.
We will be opening our Spirit Lake and Okoboji Y-Kids locations at the schools on May 11th, barring any future restrictions from the Governor’s office. With current regulations and social distancing practices, we will be limited to 30 kids per location at this time. Those 30 children will be broken into 2 groups, with 15 kids per room per DHS approval. At this time, we will only be accepting kids between the ages of 5 and 9 to serve our largest user group during this first phase. The two groups will have separate activity times as our intention is to have as little interaction between the two groups as possible. All busing, field trips, and swimming will be suspended until we can do so within the safe distancing guidelines. Lunch will be provided daily at the site locations; children may still bring a sack lunch if they so choose. Children are not to bring any toys, blankets, or any other play items from home. You may still send your child with a water bottle, but they are to be taken home and washed on a daily basis. Any disposable water bottles left behind will be thrown away at the end of the day.
Registration & Billing
With the current limitations, we will be changing our summer registration and payment requirements. Since space is limited, those with the greatest need for child care will be prioritized during this initial phase. Families will be required to pre-register to reserve spots. Payment for each week’s care will be made at the beginning of the week via bank draft. The first week’s fee will be due at registration, and you may register for multiple weeks of care at a time. If you have registered for a week and do not bring your child, you WILL be billed for that week. To best serve those with the greatest need for care, we will not be offering part time rates or drop-in care at this time. If your child is not registered for the week, they will be sent home.
Pick up and drop off
When bringing your child daily, we ask that you do so between 6 A.M. and 9 A.M. We will have a staff person greet you at the door, check your child in, take their temperature, and escort them to their program area. If the child’s temperature is 100.4 degrees or higher, they will be sent home. We ask that anyone dropping off or picking up a child not enter the school facility. At pick up, we will bring your child out to you along with anything they may have with them and sign them out with the current time.
