Summer 2026 Y Kids Registration:
Okoboji and Spirit Lake:
Monday, March 23rd, 2026– Priority registration begins for currently enrolled children in our 2025-2026 School Year Y Kids Program.
Monday, March 30th, 2026– Community registration begins until all spots are filled.
This is an IN PERSON registration process at the Bedell Family YMCA. Registration will take place from 7:30am-5pm M-F until spots are filled. We will not accept paperwork that is dropped off.
To complete the registration process, you will need to bring in the following paperwork:
- 2026 Summer Y Kids Registration Form
- Child Information Packet (needs updating/new signature annually)
- Parent Handbook signature
- If applicable- custody agreement, IEP, or BIP.
Pricing for Summer 2026 Y Kids:
YMCA Member– $145/week
Community– $175/week
Note on our registration form, you will have until May 15th to edit any registered weeks. After that date, you will be charged for the weeks you have registered your child/ren for regardless of attendance. We do have maximum capacities required at each site and unfortunately will have to turn some families away. Your child’s spot may be withholding from another child’s opportunity to attend our program for that week, which is why last-minute cancellations with refunds will not be accepted.
Y-Kids programming is provided in a group setting. The YMCA is unable to provide individualized care for those needing special assistance. Please refer to the parent handbook for further details.

This before and after school program is conveniently located in your school! Just a walk for the children and an assurance for the parents – we have a spot for you! Okoboji Y-Kids is located in the Elementary School and Spirit Lake Y-Kids is located in the Middle/Elementary School Multipurpose/Lunch Rooms.
Hours of Operation:
Morning: 6am – The Start of School
Afternoon: 3-6pm

Summer Childcare for school age children for both Spirit Lake and Okoboji.
Ages: 5 to 10 years old
The Bedell Family YMCA, will be offering transportation from the Spirit Lake and Okoboji Elementary Schools to the YMCA for kids to participate in YMCA activities beginning August 31st. A white YMCA bus will be easily identifiable and will provide service on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. All children must be registered in a YMCA program (Youth Sports, Swim Lessons, Martial Arts, etc.) to ride the bus to the YMCA on their scheduled days. Due to the close proximity of riders while bussing all riders must wear face masks. All children arriving at the YMCA on the bus will need to follow the YMCA Supervision Policy below.
YMCA Supervision Policy
All members/program participants must have completed facility waivers (by a parent or guardian if under 18). These are available at the YMCA Front Desk.
All program participants may utilize the YMCA Character Center (during hours of operation) prior to or after their supervised YMCA program when riding the bus. While supervision is provided, the YMCA Character Center is not a child care program.
- Children 3rd Grade and under must be accompanied by an adult or in a supervised program when visiting the YMCA.
- All participants 4th Grade and over are welcome in the YMCA Facility on their own, but must be accompanied by an adult while utilizing the YMCA Wellness Center and Weight Room.
- Children 7th Grade and over may utilize the YMCA Wellness Center and Weight Room on their own.
- When using the pool, Children 7 and under MUST have a parent/guardian in the pool within arm’s reach at ALL times!
