REGISTERING YOUR GIRL

Registration for the spring season opens in January and the season begins in late March! Our elementary school program (Girls on the Run) is open to all 3rd – 5th grade girls. Participants meet twice a week after school, for 90 minutes each practice. The season culminates with a celebratory 5K event where all Girls on the Run participants come together to celebrate the LIMITLESS potential of girls!

Each team has a minimum of 8 girls and a maximum of 16. Once a team is full, a waiting list will begin. If a spot becomes available, it will be offered to the next girl on the waiting list.

Once you register your daughter, you will receive an email confirmation of her registration status. In mid March, coaches will reach out to GOTR families with important season details. If you have any questions at any time, please contact us!

REGISTRATION FEE

NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?

Girls on the Run seeks to foster an inclusive environment and offers the opportunity for all girls to participate, regardless of financial situation, through scholarships. Families looking to register their girl for our program will have the opportunity to request Financial Assistance via a sliding scale. We do not ask for proof of income or expense. We rely on the honesty and integrity of parent/guardians to choose their appropriate registration fee and contribute as much towards the full cost of the program as they can. We also offer a payment plan with a 50% down payment made at the time of registration and the remainder of the fee due on March 15, 2020.

SEASON OVERVIEW

Spring Season will begin the week of March 23

Girls on the Run 5K – TBD

Season ends the week of May 28

ATTENDANCE POLICY

It is very important for your child to attend both sessions each week as the lessons build upon each other and because group relationships solidify over time. Participants are not allowed to sign up to attend one session a week. If you know your child can’t make it to both sessions each week, please do not register for the program – leave room for a child who can.  A child who is absent more than 4 times may be removed from the program for the rest of the season.

RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOR POLICY

Participants are expected to behave in a way that permits the coaches to carry out the day’s scheduled activities. Participants who are continually disruptive in a way that prevents the rest of the group from experiencing the benefits of the program may be asked to leave for the rest of the season. A child who engages in behavior that threatens the health or welfare of other participants, administrators or coaches will be released from the program for the remainder of the season. Threatening behavior may include but is not limited to: physical injury, emotional mistreatment, abuse of prescription or illegal drugs, use of alcohol, carrying firearms or other dangerous items, using any item in a dangerous way, or any other activity determined by a coach or administrator to be threatening of another person’s health or well-being. Girls on the Run, its coaches, and administrators reserve the right to remove from participation any child who for any reason does not fit the mission and goals of the organization.

REFUND/WITHDRAWAL POLICY

A $30 administration fee will be charged on all cancellations before the first practice, except in cases of medical emergencies, with a doctor’s note or documentation. No refunds will be issued after the first week of the season.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My girl isn’t a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every girl can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running and moving at each practice.

What does the program fee include?

The program fee for the 10-week, 20-lesson season is $150. Your program registration fee includes all lesson materials, including GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, lap counters and more, a GOTR t-shirt, a bib entry into the season-ending 5K, a finisher’s medal, a GOTR water bottle, and a healthy snack at every practice.

We can’t afford the program registration fee but our daughter would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don’t let the cost stop you from participating! We’d love to have your girl involved and are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to ALL girls. Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any girl who needs it. We also have funds to provide running shoes to girls in need. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale.

When does the 10-week season begin?

Practices will begin in March 24. The culminating event will be the 5K (to be announced at later date). More information will be shared by the GOTR staff and by your girl’s coaches once the season begins.

Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?

Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.

Is there a way for me to sponsor another girl’s participation this season?

Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors in order to provide program scholarships for girls in need each year. Donations are accepted here.
