Health & Fitness, Aquatics and Sports Internships
Job Title: Internship Participant | Pay Grade (Per Day): $25
Reports to: Program Operations Director
Essential Functions:
- Support the mission of the YMCA.
- Incorporate the YMCA character development Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in our daily routine and incorporate these character traits when interacting with staff and members.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow staff and members of all ages and background.
- Responsible to function as a part of a team to provide quality programs and services to YMCA members and program participants.
- Assist with implementation of curriculum and rules for aquatics and sports programs.
- Work hands-on in assisting with YMCA aquatics, fitness and sports programs, including supervision, set-up/tear down, refereeing, monitoring, score keeping, etc.
- Responsible for up keep of the YMCA Aquatics, Sports and Fitness areas and YMCA program areas.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow staff and members of all ages and background.
- Assist with scheduling and supervising of volunteers/staff for Special Events.
- Provide appropriate input on program schedules.
- Available for staff meetings when necessary.
- Keep supervisor up-to date on all relevant situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/Skills/Experience:
Education requirements: Pursuing a four-year degree in Recreation, Health Promotions, Exercise Science or equal experience, CPR certificate, 1st Aid and AED.
Specifically agreed upon goals will be mutually established and reviewed for student/advisor internship requirements at onset of the program year. The measurement of the Internship performance and effectiveness will be based on the accomplishment of these goals.
